Jewellery Care
At Heart of Hearts, every piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind. To preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewelry, we recommend a few simple care tips tailored to the materials we use: yellow bronze, 925 sterling silver, 9kt solid gold, and 3-micron gold plating.
General care tips
• Avoid using commercial cleaning products, as they may damage the finish.
• Use the soft polishing cloth included to gently remove tarnish and keep your jewellery shiny.
• Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place—preferably in a soft pouch or jewelry box (like the one included in your order).
Gold-Plated Jewelry
Gold plating is delicate by nature and can wear over time. To extend its life:
• Avoid exposure to liquids, perfumes, lotions, and chemicals.
• Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or washing your hands.
• Handle with care and store it properly when not in use.
While we use thick 3-micron gold plating, we cannot guarantee it will last forever—longevity depends on how the piece is cared for.
Sterling Silver & 9kt Gold
These are durable metals, but still handcrafted and should be treated with care.
• Sterling silver may tarnish over time, especially when exposed to moisture, chlorine, sulfur, cosmetics, or sweat. Clean it regularly with warm soapy water or the included polishing cloth.
• Changes in your body’s pH or chemistry (e.g. perspiration) may accelerate tarnishing.
• 9kt solid gold is more durable and less prone to tarnish, but it’s still best to avoid exposure to chemicals and abrasive surfaces.
About Yellow Bronze
Yellow bronze is a nickel-free alloy primarily composed of copper, tin, and zinc, giving it a rich golden tone. It’s strong, beautiful, and a great alternative to solid gold.
In some cases, bronze can cause a harmless green patina on the skin due to a natural reaction with your body’s pH. This isn’t a defect—just chemistry! It washes off easily with soap and water.
Tip: If you’re sensitive to this reaction, apply a thin layer of clear nail polish on the inside of the ring to create a barrier.
Piercing Jewellery
All piercing jewellery is made of ASTM f136 Implant grade titanium. This means that you can get pierced with it and that your jewelry will last for years to come. Just wipe it gently to remove any dirt or build up around it.
With a little love and proper care, your Heart of Hearts jewelry can last a lifetime.
